Mondays & Wednesdays from 6-7pm
Not Your Typical Kids Martial Arts Classes!
There’s nothing else like our Kids’ Life Skills program anywhere! Finally, all the things you thought your child would be benefiting from martial arts in a practical class. Through our age specific curriculum, your son or daughter will learn to deal with their age specific challenges: peer pressure, bullying (in a manner that actually works*), internet safety, abduction, gun safety & much more. They will develop the strong positive character traits you desire for them – better focus and self-discipline for improved grades and more!
What ages are your classes geared toward?
Our kids’ classes are for ages 5 and above who have already started Kindergarten through middle school age. High school age youth typically attend our adult classes as that’s their next stage in life… young adults.
Where and when are your kids’ classes held?
Our classes are held inside the MWC Sports Complex at 2510 Long Mill Rd, Youngsville, NC 27596 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7pm.
Character Building Program
We are always looking for ways to enhance your children’s life here at Gendai Martial Arts. You deserve a full curriculum that helps to develop your children socially and cognitively as well as physically – and not just an advertising statement. Trying to raise our children to possess good character traits today can actually be quite challenging. We, as parents, compete with distractions from social media, our children’s peers, their teachers and other media sources. With your support and commitment, we aim to help build your child into a happy and successful individual prepared for all of life’s challenges.
How do we plan to build character, you might ask?
Each month, in addition to our life skills training for safety related concerns, we will focus on teaching your child a specific character word and work to foster that positive trait within your child. Through explanation, discussions, role playing and homework assignments, your child will not only understand what the word means, but begin to apply it in his/her life.
What benefits can I expect for my child from your program?
◉ Improved fitness (cardio, strength, flexibility, etc.)
◉ Increased self-esteem and self-image
◉ REAL self-confidence
◉ Improved self-discipline, attention span and self-control (particularly with kids diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, etc.)
◉ Improved listening skills as well as the ability to communicate clearly and directly
◉ Increased resistance to negative peer pressure while likely becoming a more positive role model for others his/her age
◉ Increased focus and effectiveness at school and with homework
◉ Increased situational awareness improving their overall safety
◉ AND much safer in their world (dealing with bullies, internet threats, fire safety, gun safety, abduction, etc.)
How do I get my child started?
We recommend starting them out with our $20 introductory program consisting of 4 Easy Start Orientation Classes described below.
Easy Start Orientation Classes:
These classes are geared toward easing your child into the idea of training in a martial arts class likes ours. They are scheduled in advance on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30pm-6:00pm. The first of these classes will also be our chance to determine a baseline from which to measure your child’s achievements as a result of our program.
What happens after the 4 Easy Start Classes?
If you and your child are serious about taking the next step with us, one of our staff would sit down with you to discuss what plan best suits your situation. We do not require any student to sign a contract. Our goal is to treat you like a valued customer so your child will want to keep coming back to class. We do, however, offer special rates for those who are willing to make a long term commitment. But, we are first and foremost honest about what one will gain from our classes verses trying to get you into a contract. Most sign their child up for classes in 3 month segments.
As a parent, keep in mind, that all schools in North Carolina apply a NO Tolerance to Violence Policy. Your child has the right to defend him/herself. But, he/she must do so with the proper level of response as dictated by law. Karate and Taekwondo ONLY teach strikes (kicks, punches, knees and elbows). Your child must also learn PHYSICAL and VERBAL boundary setting skills and simple soft hand skills. We provide your child all the skills they need for each scenario and level of force.
